A workshop of
traditional greek singing with Katerina Papadopoulou together with a traditional
dancing workshop with Christiana Katsarou.
A meeting in
Ikaria island where we shall learn traditional greek songs from all over Greece
(especially Asia Minor, Dodekanese, north east Aegean sea), and the way to sing
them while dancing. The dances of the songs will be tought by Christiana
Katsarou.
Location
The place that the
workshop shall take place is the coastal village of Nas.
Nas means “temple”
as it was built next to an ancient Greek temple of Greek Mythology goddess
Artemis.
Additionally, during
the workshop we shall organize an excursion to enjoy Ikaria’s landscape and
understand more its particular cultural character. On that day the workshop
shall take place in different locations.
During the
Workshop there will be local feasts («πανηγύρια», «γλέντια» etc.) that the
students could join, singing or dancing… For nature’s lovers, one can swim in
the beach of Nas or the beaches of the neighbouring village of Armenistis, can
explore the beauty of the Chalaris river and can enjoy local food in the nice
little tavernas all around…

Transportation tips to and from Ikaria:

airplane: From Athens,Thessaloniki, Crete (Herakleion).

the ferry NISSOS MYKONOS to Evdilos port of Ikaria: From Pireus, Paros, Naxos,
Samos.
(Other connections: Syros – Mykonos – Agios Kirikos – Fourni – Karlovassi
– Vathi – Chios – Mytilini – Limnos – Kavala : By
ferry to Agios Kirikos port of Ikaria)
Accommodation
We propose that participants share a
double room or a studio (for 3 or 4 people) for a lower cost of accommodation. (13,5 – 20 euros per person). Suggested accommodation:
Panorama Studios
Double/ Triple: 40
euros / night.
Τετράκλινο: 50 euros/ night.

Double: 27 euros /night.
